Depression is one of the most common health conditions globally. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men have an episode of major depression. Furthermore, the shocking and sad death of Stephen 'tWitch', who committed suicide this week, was another reminder that even when people are seemingly happy and posting 'happy images' on social media - in real life they are depressed and there is a devoid of real conversations happening. Liking a social media post or sharing an emoji on WhatsApp is great but let's also make the time to have real conversations. We need to truly be present to listen to each other which is so powerful and so needed now, more than ever, in the digital age.
